Inspire Me

Today I hope I can find the excitement and inspiration that I lost somewhere between my backspace key and enter last night after a couple good hours of working on my post...gone in 1 second, darn technology!
I was so excited about it being Wines day, Wednesday for those of you who may not know the term, maybe part of the problem. It was a gorgeous afternoon, evening, and the children were playing so nicely in the yard while I was working away outside, yes bring on fall!
My favorite mags are on the stands and in my mailbox for October... House Beautiful and Elle Decor do not disappoint after briefly flipping through.
Although everything happens for a reason... I woke today with an email in my inbox from Lonny Mag and they have introduced their website www.lonnymag.com/decorate. This leaves me with a feeling of euphoria, sheer bliss, I miss Domino so badly and Lonny fills the void creatively but I miss the magazine, in print. The new website allows you to search the archives, see rooms, and other features that the previous site did not allow you to do. Hence, Happy Day!

I must say a visit that has made my week and fueled my inspiration was spending time yesterday with a friend and colleague, Betty Eatman Nelson in her family's showroom Eatman's Carpet and Interiors in Raleigh, NC. There is nothing more exciting than someone who shares your love and passion for interiors and all the pretty little details that make those spaces. Betty a 3rd generation Eatman is working along with her family to make Eatman's a company her grandfather established over 50 years ago one that maintains the integrity of the past but the promise and change of the future.
One of Betty's newest ventures with Eatman's is the launch of Inspire Me a blog dedicated to designers, new products, and inspiration.

Eatman's Carpet and Interiors is a great resource for designers as well as a place for the public.  I can tell you there are a few things I think that a gal needs and I left Eatman's yesterday with a more added to my list!

Hangin Up

Parties, dancing, cocktails, repeat more of the same with the grand finale of a dear friend's gorgeous wedding leaves me feeling a little washed up and hung out to dry from the weekend. I will be back tomorrow rested and rejuvenated...Happy Monday!

All Work No Play

This week has been crazy busy and I am not complaining, love the chaos because for once I am organized, for the most part... I am working on fun projects right now, the kids are finally in school and life is good! I am checking out today though for social engagements, a friend's wedding, what a beautiful weekend it will be but stay tuned I have some exciting happenings to post next week!

These are a couple of yummy patterns I am working with right now, different projects and like my client said about Birds you just want to wrap yourself up in it! Agreed.

Rio shown in House Beautiful magazine makes a great accent fabric.

Birds is beautiful on just about everything and is also available in Suncloth to be used outside.

In the meantime everyone mark those calendars for next Saturday September 18th! Moxie Kids and Phreckles Photography are hosting quite the soiree with the Open House of Phreckles and their new awesome location at 515 Hargett Street and Moxie's fall of super cute duds...Pink Chicken is too cute with Appaman following a close second.
Ice cream, face painting and sessions with Marie, who could ask for anything more!
I will post a reminder next week, this is an event not to be missed.

Have a great weekend, off to put my party shoes on!

Designer on the Brink

Of being the ultimate star Emily Henderson...well technically she is already the official Season 5 Design Star of  HGTV. To be rewarded the title of Design Star you have to compete against 12 of the most talented designers, architects, contractors, stylists and present the most ingenious designs to a panel of judges, ultimately winning a show on HGTV.
Typically I don't watch the shows on HGTV that often but I DVR
Sarah's House, a Canadian designer who takes on the daunting task of turning a dilapidated farm house into a chic country retreat...my dream! Okay, back on track, my TV still on HGTV, happened to be on Emily Henderson's premiere show Secrets From A Stylist.
Her project, to collaborate with LA based Ian Brennan, a writer, director, producer and best known for being the co-creator of Glee.

Emily and Ian shown here, obviously meshed so well and I really do not want to tell every detail of the design process because I think it is worth watching. Emily a native of Portland, Oregon has a background in design, styling and seems to be a jack of trades. I found her to be entertaining, inspiring, adorable, and I so look forward to seeing more from this fresh face.
Congratulations Emily!

Emily on the hunt...FYI the whole project was a collaboration and done in phases that were filmed so she brought things in, he said yay, nay. You can tell by the pictures and final look that everything came together perfectly to fit his style, ultimately meeting his needs.
