For Your Monday

Lots to catch up on this Monday and the rain makes it a wonderful day to do just that. We haven't seen rain in so long it almost seems as rare as snow these days! What I do know with 3 kids is there are more "accessories" for a rain day than the average foyer space can tolerate. Luckily when we did our edition last year we added a mud room with cubbies for all the boots, coats, umbrellas and bags...Lifesaver! Looking through images of my favorite foyers today and noticing chic umbrella stands in some, none in others makes me wonder, should I add one to my formal front foyer?

One of Each Please

Seems like a good mantra to live by in my business on days when I receive a call from the showroom saying that they have just received a Santa Sleigh full of Madeline Weinrib rugs in different fun prints and colors ready to go, pick me up please, I need a home!

They are all sized 8 x 10, the first 2 are the metallic chenille blend, the rest are the cotton wovens...seriously one of each please?

More Friday Favorites

It is Fashion Week in New York and here in Raleigh we are having our version too. I attended a Fashion show last night at Vermillion showcasing their looks for Fall and there were many divine pieces that I could have scooped up. Lots of layering, gorgeous textures, fur, and chic pieces by some of the best designers strutted down the runway. It really left me wanting more than anything... an express trip to New York! Another Friday and more of my favorite things...hope it is a good one!

Rue a new online magazine that features homes, entertaining, recipes, products, and trends just premiered... Definitely a weekend read.

Anya Hindmarch the brand of handbags, shoes, and clothing by British designer and mother of 5, Anya Hindmarch is fabulous!

Anya Hindmarch shown in her own home in a feature of Domino Magazine.

The Union Jack flag as an accessory to any space. The British invasion continues with this gorgeous Vivienne Westwood  rug on the wall.

Lucite and Jack, I am in love!

This amazing dress has a British feel to it.

San Francisco, CA based designer Palmer Weiss I adore for her use of color and she is spot on with the trend for fall...animal prints.  2 for 2 I love both, animals and Palmer!

Inspire Me

Today I hope I can find the excitement and inspiration that I lost somewhere between my backspace key and enter last night after a couple good hours of working on my post...gone in 1 second, darn technology!
I was so excited about it being Wines day, Wednesday for those of you who may not know the term, maybe part of the problem. It was a gorgeous afternoon, evening, and the children were playing so nicely in the yard while I was working away outside, yes bring on fall!
My favorite mags are on the stands and in my mailbox for October... House Beautiful and Elle Decor do not disappoint after briefly flipping through.
Although everything happens for a reason... I woke today with an email in my inbox from Lonny Mag and they have introduced their website www.lonnymag.com/decorate. This leaves me with a feeling of euphoria, sheer bliss, I miss Domino so badly and Lonny fills the void creatively but I miss the magazine, in print. The new website allows you to search the archives, see rooms, and other features that the previous site did not allow you to do. Hence, Happy Day!

I must say a visit that has made my week and fueled my inspiration was spending time yesterday with a friend and colleague, Betty Eatman Nelson in her family's showroom Eatman's Carpet and Interiors in Raleigh, NC. There is nothing more exciting than someone who shares your love and passion for interiors and all the pretty little details that make those spaces. Betty a 3rd generation Eatman is working along with her family to make Eatman's a company her grandfather established over 50 years ago one that maintains the integrity of the past but the promise and change of the future.
One of Betty's newest ventures with Eatman's is the launch of Inspire Me a blog dedicated to designers, new products, and inspiration.

Eatman's Carpet and Interiors is a great resource for designers as well as a place for the public.  I can tell you there are a few things I think that a gal needs and I left Eatman's yesterday with a more added to my list!

Beautiful custom designed sisal rugs as well as wool as seen in the July issue of House Beautiful.

Madeline Weinrib fabrics available by the yard and yes they are to die for! MW has some of the most gorgeous Ikats on the market and they are hand dyed in Uzbekistan through the traditional method.

Samples on the ring, yes I will take on of each...

Visual Comfort Lighting which happens to be my absolute favorite lighting company!

These are certainly just a few favorites to name but there are definitely more where these came from at Eatman's Have a great day and drop me a line if there is anything out there inspiring you today!
