Beach Chic

"The waves of the sea help me get back to me"
Jill Davis

Yesterday I returned from a great Easter and very beautiful weekend at the beach. The weather was phenomenal and the kiddos were full blown swimming in the ocean, eating sand and all! It left me wanting more and looking forward to my next visit.

Calypso Cottage

While I was in Beaufort, NC this weekend I had the pleasure of shopping in Calypso Cottage 324 Orange Street. "Some Like It Haute" is the tag line for Pete and Stacie Meislohn's charming chic cottage. Stacie, originally from Martha's Vineyard and Pete from New York lived in Southampton, NY for 20 years before a family reunion 4 1/2 years ago brought them to the area. Calypso Cottage is entering its 4th season in Beaufort and as their website says "brings a touch of the Hamptons to the coast of North Carolina."
The couple are so friendly, talented and truly interesting. Stacie creates most of the gorgeous jewelry at Calypso and I won't say which gorgeous bauble I am eyeing as a birthday prize for myself! She has been in the business since 19 and worked for high end jewelers such as Tiffany & Co. and Yves St. Laurent.
Pete, managed the Hampton's premiere Garden Center, Eastland Farms in Water Mill, NY (Hamptons) for over 20 years with clients such as Christie Brinkley, Ann Hearst and rubbed elbows with all the society gals....hmmm, I have so many questions for Pete!
Next time you are in Beaufort stop in the cottage and until then check out their website http://www.calypsocottageonline.com/. They have gifts, home decor, clothing and jewelry....enjoy!

       India Hicks

NY Times

When I think of beachy chic there is no other that comes to my mind than the stylish "Island Life" India Hicks. India, the daughter of legendary designer David Hicks is the quintessential island girl. She gave up her home 13 years ago in West Village and her partner David Flint and 3 children made the bahamas their home. They renovated a colonial style house (Hibiscus Hill) they live in, built 2 guest houses and restored a 200 year old plantation house that they turned into a swanky hotel, "The Landing." The book "Island Life: Inspirational Interiors" documents the renovation of all the properties, offering a look of the interiors and gives advice of how you can have the look of an island home.

Moth Design

The company that whose designs I have been lusting after for months are those of Moth Designs based out of Los Angeles. I thought it fitting with the beach chic to feature the ever so fabulous coral sconces. Love, love, love them! They are gorgeous over this fireplace and they come in sizes S,M,L. The coral also comes in a chandelier which is fantastic as well.

It seems designer Betsy Burnham loves Moth Designs too, see I knew we had kindred spirits!

I just wanted to finish with these shots from designer Phoebe Howard and her project in Boca Grande, very nice...
